Born in the Netherlands, Edward Bok came to the United States with his family at the age of six. He worked in publishing from the age of thirteen. He founded the Brooklyn magazine and 1886 he established the Bok Syndicate Press. Bok became editor of Ladies' home journal in 1889. Sara Jane Lippincott (September 23, 1823 – April 20, 1904) was an American author, poet, correspondent, lecturer, and newspaper founder. Lippincott's accomplishments include many firsts.
